Belgium: Sweets, Fun and Relaxation

Belgium chocolates and Belgium waffles have made this small European country famous around the world. But Belgium offers more than just sweets and breakfast items. In fact, Belgium is known for hosting more street and music festivals than any other country in Europe. After all, this is where the Saxophone was invented, by Adolph Sax, in 1846. Belgium’s historical sites, small towns, and peaceful countryside make it an excellent destination for inquisitive travelers.

Belgium is both multicultural and multilingual. Flanders, in the north, is a land surrounded by canals that hosts medieval art cities such as Antwerp, Bruges and Ghent. Wallonia, in the south, leads you to the hills of the Ardennes, countless castles, and the cities of Liege, Namur, and Tournai. Brussels, the capital, is one of the world's great cosmopolitan cities, home to the European Union, NATO and the Atomium monument. All these cities and regions are connected through a train network that makes it easy and simple to hop on and hop off at your desired destination.

What to do?

Christmas in Belgium, with Christmas markets in Brussels, Bruges, Liege, Antwerp and in other cities, is really an experience you cannot miss. Every winter, Brussels features a magical decor, superb Christmas market, illuminated Big Wheel, roundabouts, street activities, music and the famous skating rink. Winter in Bruges is a month long celebration of the holidays with carillons concerts, Christmas markets and processions making it an original Christmas wonderland.

Looking for something to do during your vacations? Belgium has become the hot destination in Europe for the 20-30 something set. Students and young travelers are gathering at cities like Brussels, Antwerp, Leuven and Namur for stylish shopping, inexpensive hotels, great food, and a pulsating nightlife.

Looking for rest and relaxation? Belgium offers you the original Spa. Located in the middle of the Ardennes and surrounded by forests and rivers, the city of Spa is famous for the mineral springs that initiated the hydro-therapy industry centuries ago. In addition, Belgium offers 67 km of coastline along the North Sea in the Flanders region where you will find beautiful beaches such as De Panne, Ostend, De Haan and Knokke-Heist.

Where to eat?

Trendy cafes throughout Belgium are crowded with students and young professionals. In most places you will find Brussels legendary “frietkots” where they serve Belgian fries for those who want to hang out after the restaurants close. For those blessed with a sweet tooth, Belgium can be paradise offering exquisite chocolates, pralines, and waffles. For more information, here is a complete list of restaurants.

Visas & Documents

Visas for stays of no more than 3 months are required by all except EU/EEA nationals and citizens from Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Hong Kong, Japan, Mexico, United States, United Kingdom and other countries. A uniform type of visa, the Schengen visa, is issued for tourist, business and private visits. All visas cost either US$44 (short stay; up to 90 days) or US$64 (long stay). Fine china is considered an art form dating back from ancient Chinese dynasties and the earliest type of these beautiful ceramic dates as far back as 9, 200 years ago. Today, it is used for decorations, valuable gift items and dinnerware during important events. If you're planning on hosting a dinner, everyday dishes just won't do, you have to make it special and you using fine china as dinner ware will seal the deal.

There are two types of china: porcelain and bone china.

Porcelain
Porcelain is usually the other name used for china. It is durable; it is microwavable and dishwater safe. It is also non-absorbent and bacteria do not grow on it. The higher the quality of the porcelain dinnerware, the thinner and more translucent it is. However, being thin and translucent does not mean it is brittle; in fact high quality porcelain is resistant to chipping.

Bone China
Dinnerware bone china has materials closely related to porcelain; the difference is that it contains bone ash. This addition of bone ash creates a more translucent and clearer ceramic but still maintaining durability. Unlike porcelain that is ivory in color, bone china is whiter.

The main thing you have to consider whenever buying fine china is its durability. If you're shopping for fine china it is often wise to ask how tough the materials are because no matter how beautiful it is if it can easily be broken then you've wasted your money.

You should also be careful of imitations. Some stores use stoneware or regular porcelain as brand it as fine china. These variety of dinnerware are porous and might not be microwavable or dishwasher safe. You can check whether what you're looking at is authentic by checking its translucency. Carefully hold the piece of china in the light and check if it is translucent. Translucency is a sign of high quality because authentic fine china contains clay which makes it translucent.

Today, most fine china is made by machine, only a few are handmade. Most items comes in a circular shape because it is easier and cheaper for the company to create a dinnerware in that shape. You may see some items in the shape of a square or a hexagon but these may fetch at a higher price than its round counterpart. If you're planning to buy a set, expect to spend at least $500 for a 4-piece set.

There are various patterns painted in different colors to choose from. Your aesthetic taste should be the deciding factor which makes you decide. Although shopping for fine china costs a generous sum of cash, it is a worthy investment because it can last for a very long time and you can leave it for your children's children to use.

Trust Brothers Fine Tableware for all of your fine china needs. One of our favorite collections is Johnson Brothers Friendly Village.

Destination Trend - Phuket Luxury Hotels

Luxury phuket hotels rented this fabulous appartment hotel in Phuket thailand

For the ultimate island getaway, travelers are flocking to Phuket, Thailand and enjoying its white sand beaches, azure waters, and tropical mountains. Although the central western coast of the island attracts the majority of visitors, those who seek the finest Phuket luxury hotels and five star resorts head further south, to the pristine, unspoiled beaches of Nai Harn and the Prompthep Cape. Known for its glorious sunsets and the purity of its waters, the area caters to those who seek sophistication, opulence, and exclusivity.

Finding Exquisite Beach Hotels

In Phuket, luxury beach hotels are in a class by themselves. But to get that extra measure of service, it's best to choose from among five star hotels that have no more than 110 rooms. With a hotel that size, you'll have access to the finest services and amenities, but your needs won't get lost in the crowd.

In fact, personalization should be key at the resort you choose. You should, for example, be greeted by name at the airport and upon checking in. Your room should be set with every one of your preferences in mind, from the temperature of the room to the flowers, from the lighting to the choice of pillows, and from the scent to the movie selections. You should have a personal butler who will unpack, press, and hang your clothing, and who will stock your complimentary mini bar with your favorite beverages.

Look for accommodations where every guest room and suite faces the water, and where each has a large terrace and sun bed. To get the maximum enjoyment of Phuket's natural beauty, find a five star luxury hotel where the public buildings, spa buildings, and swimming pools are designed to blend in with their surroundings.

Savoring the Experience

After you settle in at your Phuket luxury hotel, you should be sure to savor all of the experiences the resort has to offer. Unwind at the spa with an aromatherapy massage and body wrap, or rejuvenate with a body scrub and footbath.

The natural beauty of Phuket is meant to be enjoyed, so take advantage of the resort's amenities, such as canoes, windsurfing boards, snorkeling gear, and beachside umbrellas. Enjoy a set at the hotel's tennis courts, and then be whisked away on a private schooner to delight in the sapphire waters of the Andaman Sea.

Meetings and Special Events

Phuket luxury hotels provide the perfect backdrop for destination meetings and special events. The serenity of the island's nature beauty belies the efficiency and service that luxury business hotels provide to business travelers and those attending corporate retreats.

With the ever-increasing popularity of destination weddings, Phuket five star resorts are ideal settings for the most romantic of ceremonies and receptions. Whether the betrothed wish to get married overlooking the pool, on a private beach, or even on a private schooner, luxury beach hotels will accommodate their wishes.

Whether you're looking for the perfect island getaway or a gorgeous backdrop for your next corporate retreat, the accommodations and service at Phuket luxury hotels will exceed your wildest dreams.

Cheap one way flights

Cheap one way flights

If you want to visit an international location this holiday season, you will realize that the most expensive part about your vacation is the ticket. You would need to shell large amounts of cash just to be able to visit a place in another country. However, the good news is that if you keep your ears and eyes open, you can find cheap international flight tickets.

Let us face it. Internet has its pluses and minuses. Thanks to the Internet, you can now find cheap flights easily. You can check discount offers as well as airfares on the numerous sites that cater to providing information on international flights. These sites also have information on different tourist destinations and hotels all around the world. Some sites even allow members to post their reviews on hotels and other places of interests, thereby letting members earn points which can be redeemed for tickets or any other offer the website is running.

However, you would never to check a few travel sites so that you can not only compare flight ticket prices but also compare the fastest and cheapest route to your destination. Once you have found a price that suits your budget, you can book the ticket using the same site.

Booking flight tickets on travel sites is actually very easy. All you need to do is enter details like you name, place of departure and date of travel. This will then give you the list of airlines that fly from your city to the city you want to visit. Select the airline, check that all in information you have given is correct and then pay using your credit card. It is that simple.

Remember, many of these sites work with different airlines, and it is their task to sell seats on different flights which they do by offering at a much lower price than the airline itself. Make sure you find a website that deals with cheap airfare and cheap international flights. This way you can be certain of getting a good bargain.

Also, booking a round trip is always cheaper than booking a one way trip. So, book you return at the same time when booking a flight to a destination. In addition, to get better deals, avoid taking direct flights as they are more expensive. It is better to opt for indirect flights so that you can not only get a cheap fare but also maybe spend a day or two in a new city.

How to Get Cheap Flights to Europe and Anywhere Else

There's some truth to the famed airline myth that savings come with restrictions, discomfort and stopovers, but only not everything. You can get reduced prices on tickets on reputable airlines with direct flights as well.

If you're not tied to one particular destination, you should check prices on flights to the cheapest gateways in Europe. Start with London, Amsterdam and Paris, then try Rome, Milan, Madrid and Frankfurt. Trying to begin your journey with a flight into say, the Swiss Alps, isn't going to do much more than make your travel agent light up with dollar signs. If prices are relatively equal, book with well-informed travel agent and get their email address and phone number. The can point out things you never thought of (eg a flight that leaves at 6am, before there's any cheap transport running to the airport) and provide access to consolidator fares. Besides, it's nice to have someone to contact in case you're in a jam.

But before you call an agent, do a little online checking on your own, so you'll know know a good price when you see one. Start looking on the major online booking engines and check out the lowest published fares for a particular flight. Here are a few tips that will help you keep down your flight costs:

1) Take an hour or two and try combinations of dates into different cities (Amsterdam, London, Madrid, Paris, Frankfurt and Milan are good hubs) at one or more of the online booking engines mentioned above. Sometimes, just leaving a day later of flying into adifferent city can make a difference of €125. in this sense, a little flexibility can translate into substantial savings.

2) Often, the cheapest flight tickets are sold far in advance. Call a trusted travel agent and ask him/her to book the cheapest fully refundable flight ticket available. Then keep looking. If you find something cheaper, simply cancel the first ticket

3) For internet bookings, consider purchasing the ticket on a Wednesday (when airlines offer special promotions), not on a weekend (when the prices shoot back up).

4) Once you find a good deal, go directly to that airline's site to see if they're offering any other special promotions to places nearby that are even cheaper. Or any frequent-flier bonuses. Strange as it may seem, flights and prices can differ between airlines' sites and the site where you originally spotted the flight.

5) Keep in mind the cheapest flight tickets are often less direct, less conveniently scheduled and may involve an airline you've never even heard of. It you have more time than money, this is a fine way to grab a deal.

6) Don't let your "frequent-flier" plan get in the way of finding the best and the cheapest airline tickets. First, look for the best deal, then if two or three offer similar fares, pick the one that fits into your mileage plan.

7) If you don't live in a hub city, look for ads in the mainstream press in the nearest one to you, plus any student newspapers or the free and alternative newspapers in your area. If you find a great price, but you've never heard of the company, buy with a credit card so you can stop payment if need be.

8) Consider an open-jaw ticket. These are two-one-way flights sold for half their round trip value, with an overland connection in between that you provide. For example, instead of using two travel days to zip back to London to catch your flight home, you can buy an open-jaw ticket and fly back from, say, Rome. If you know your itinerary, you may be able to save by not backtracking
